Here at Glacier Media, our internal agency ecosystem is made up of 150+ folks.

It’s time for another edition of Team GMD Q&A. It’s kind of like Vogue’s 73 Questions. Instead, it’s in blog form and there are less than 10 questions – because you’re busy and we respect your time.

This week on Meet the Team GMD, we are chatting with Emily.

Emily is a content creator and writer with a wealth of experience in crafting copy across industries and channels. She has a versatile portfolio and a knack for keeping content on brand and on message while maintaining her own unique voice and style. Some fun facts about Emily: she has two cats named Dottie and Earl, she lived in Saudi Arabia as a child and she writes music from time to time. Read on to learn more about Emily…

In a short paragraph, tell us a little bit about your role at GMD. What do you do on a daily basis:

I occupy a dual role here at GMD. I work with the Sponsored Content team as a project manager, helping facilitate the development of multiple projects at a time and ensuring everything goes smoothly from start to finish. I also write sponsored articles for VIA and produce various other forms of content, including ad scripts, website copy and more.

Personal kryptonite:

All animals, English Breakfast tea and Reese’s Cups (not the pieces, cups are where it’s at)

Guilty pleasures:

Cheesy, over-the-top action movies, most things Pokemon-related, angsty early-2000’s pop punk, and coffee and alcoholic drinks that don’t taste remotely like either of those things (either with lots of sweetness added to it or anything to cover the actual taste), just to name a few!

Hobbies?

I am a real homebody. I love being lazy on the couch and browsing/switching between the various streaming platforms with my partner and our two cats. I also play acoustic guitar and sing and sometimes write my own songs.

Do you have a Side-hustle? Do tell!

I write some freelance articles on and off on the side for some digital Canadian publications and blogs.

Best part of your job?

Since I occupy a dual role, I have my hands in multiple pots and get to work and collaborate with various teams, which I really enjoy. It provides different perspectives that I may not have thought of that I can transfer and apply to my own work.

Do you have a motto or personal mantra?

Is it cliché to say ‘fake it til you make it?’ It’s gotten me this far!

What is the last thing you read that inspired you?

This might be cheating, but my Dad got me a sign for my birthday ages ago that hangs in my house and reads, “Nobody else’s footsteps lead exactly where you’re going.” I see it every day before I leave the house, and I really like it.

What does “success” mean to you?

I’ve never viewed money or status as pinnacles of success. I view success as being totally comfortable with where you’re at both mentally and physically, figuratively and literally. You may not have everything you want, but you have everything you need.

Any summer plans?

Lots! Somehow the summer weekends always fill up quickly. I have a friend’s wedding to attend, and then likely some visits to the island to see my family, a trip to Fort St. John to see my partner’s parents, and maybe dress shopping for my wedding next year. My birthday is thrown in there somewhere, too.
