Here at Glacier Media, our internal agency ecosystem is made up of 150+ folks.

It’s time for another edition of Team GMD Q&A. It’s kind of like Vogue’s 73 Questions. Instead, it’s in blog form and there are less than 10 questions – because you’re busy and we respect your time.

This week on Meet the Team GMD, we are chatting with UX/UI Designer, Mahsa Shafiei. Originally from Iran, Mahsa, like so many of us here at GMD, moved here to enjoy the Vancouver way of life. She loves the outdoors and exploring the city, and has some sage advice for emerging creatives…

In a short paragraph, tell us a little bit about your role at GMD. What do you do on a daily basis:

I create and design digital ads and websites to focus on customer acquisition, better leads, and brand awareness. From User experience (UX) perspective, developing sensations and feelings when users interact with digital marketing content and landing pages.

Personal kryptonite:

Carrot cake 🙂

Any Hidden talents?

I used to do synchronized swimming and I play Padel (a mix between Tennis and Squash).

What do you do when you’re not working?

I try to go paddle boarding as much as possible.

A cause/causes you are passionate about?

Equality

What is one of your greatest achievements?

Moving to Canada on my own to pursue my dreams and find better opportunities.

Who/what inspires you and why?

My mom inspires me to be a better person and has taught me that hard times can be overcome and that losing battles can be won.

What gets you out of bed in the morning (other than your alarm)?

Getting to work with such a fantastic team because it’s not really work if you love what you do.

If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day and why?

If I could spend a day as someone else, It would be Tom Froese who is an illustrator. I attended a conference where he was one of the speakers. His designs and illustrations are outstanding. I wish I could swap places with him for a day so I could see how he thinks of all these great ideas for illustrations.

Any advice for the emerging creatives?

When I went to a design conference, they said, “In order to sing, you must know your voice.” So you must discover your strengths, which can only be discovered through practice.

It’s 11 AM on a Saturday morning. What are you doing?

I’m doing my yoga on my paddle board! Just kidding! But seriously on my paddle board or go for a hike.

Next travel destination?

Garibaldi Lake to see the glaciers before they are gone.
