What do you like about it?

If I’m around Chinatown, I often drop in at Massey Books because it feels like a secret world – a cozy respite from the hustle and bustle of the busy streets. A little off-beat yet very cozy, the 100% Indigenous owned and operated store also has a second level mezzanine which acts as a mini local art gallery.

What do you like about it?

I have been buying and selling used books at their Main St location for too many years to count. They have a fair yet critical purchasing policy for used books which  means they always have lots of great used books & graphic novels on offer with a high turnover of titles.

The Paper Hound

What do you like about it?

This charming bookstore is co-owned by two very friendly and knowledgeable bibliophiles, Rod Clarke and Kim Koch, who met while working at MacLeod’s Books and decided to open up their own shop.

The Paper Hound stocks both used and new books, but their specialty lies in an impressive collection of random gems hidden in the shelves. If you’re looking for special/rare editions, vintage cookbooks, poetry collections, beautiful children’s books, artbooks, etc – this is your bookstore. It’s a browser’s paradise. And the lovely owners are always helpful and happy to provide guidance, or just chat about books.

What do you like about it?

It’s easy to lose a couple of hours getting lost in their labyrinth of books, ranging from best sellers to strange treasures and rare publications.

What do you like about it?

This small store has a great selection of used books. You can find rare editions of used books for a great value. The service is great and the staff are knowledgeable.
