Here at Glacier Media, our internal agency ecosystem is made up of 150+ folks.

It’s time for another edition of Team GMD Q&A! It’s kind of like Vogue’s 73 Questions. Instead, it’s in blog form and there are less than 10 questions – because you’re busy and we respect your time.

Spring is in full bloom and the GMD team continues to expand! This week we speak to Pablo Narvaez, one of our new Digital Coordinators who brings a quick wit and a wealth of knowledge to the team. While studying in his homeland of Mexico, Pablo obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and later, an MBA with a focus on Data Science from the University of Alberta. He’s also your go-to guy for anything AI and machine-learning-related (but please don’t ask him about tuna or taxes).

Read on to learn more about Pablo!

Your GMD title: Digital Coordinator

In a short paragraph, tell us a little bit about your role at GMD. What do you do on a daily basis:

I am a Digital Coordinator. I like to think that the digital coordinator is a swiss army knife.  My job is to ask questions and solve roadblocks. I am the middle person between a powerful organization (GMD) and brilliant people that see the value in GMD’s expertise and want to put it to use for them.

Personal kryptonite:

Canned tuna. Please don’t ask; it brings puke memories 🙁

Hidden talent:

I can play a few instruments, and I will always say yes to Karaoke. And yes, always saying yes to Karaoke is a hidden talent.

Hobbies:

Video games and especially Rocket League.

Describe yourself in 3 words:

Never not playing

A cause/causes you are passionate about:

ADHD awareness

What are you currently listening to?

Ásgeir – Leyndarmál

If you had to give a TED talk, what would it be about?

“How successfully creating capable AI for Rocket League’s bots will bring the singularity and the dawn of artificial general intelligence.”

What is the last thing you watched/listened to/read that inspired you, and why?

The Scout Mindset by Julia Galef. It inspired me because I believe understanding our cognitive biases is vital to keep evolving as humans.

First thing you’re going to do once we’re all vaccinated?

Going to a pub.

Favourite Vancouver coffee/brunch/ spot?

Nero waffles just hit differently.

Favourite quote
:
“If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.”

Last thing you binge-watched

One-Piece

One thing school taught you and one thing it didn’t:

It taught me friends matter as much as getting good grades. It didn’t teach me how to do my taxes, man.
