Another week, another Team GMD Q&A. It’s kind of like Vogue’s 73 Questions. Instead, it’s in blog form and there are less than 10 questions – because you’re busy and we respect your time.
Introducing this week’s feature on Meet Team GMD, Kate Palamarchuk. She’s our Social Producer by day, and a graphic design hobbyist by night (@vankatie_art). Kate also likes to travel and do landscape photography. Learn where she would like to travel next…
Expertise: Social media, sponsored content, and multitasking between everything else.
Hobbies: Landscape photography, hiking, travelling, and everything outdoors-y.
Hidden talent: Being really good at learning new languages… but never finishing learning them to the point when I’m fluent (except English).
Two truths, one lie:
- I went skydiving on my 21st birthday
- I studied microbiology and biochemistry in my first year
- I lived in New Zealand when I was 17
Drink Order: Double whiskey & coke
Office habit: Coming early to work, making a cup of tea, and writing my to-do list for the day.
Personal kryptonite: Chocolate
What are you reading right now? Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
Next vacation destination: Iceland or some national park in the states.
Your Favourite StandOUT article you’ve ever published: The first that comes to my mind was the one about a bubble tea place. Speaking of good marketing, after I read the articles, I’d get a bubble tea every day after work for more than a week!
What/who inspires you: My family and friends, teammates, and the tech future.
How has working for a non-profit organization changed your perspectives on work and life: When I was working with a non-profit organization that supports young women in business, I realized how much harder it is for women to enter the tech industry, even when you have the essential skills and education. It made me work even harder and focus on self-development. Today, I can say that I’m extremely happy to be a part of the team, where women are equally represented. It’s very empowering and inspiring!
