Welcome to the second edition of Three Bullet Thursday

(read time: 1min)

  • One Tool – Ghostery is a Chrome extension that can tell you a lot about how businesses (potential clients) are advertising online. By navigating to any website and clicking the icon in your toolbar, you will instantly know whether a business is using, or has used Adwords, Facebook Ads or programmatic display ads. You will also see what type of tracking tools they have installed on their website (Analytics, Tag Manager, etc.)
  • One Article worth reading is Nick Kolenda’s 27 Advertising Tactics. The article summarizes some useful tips when putting together display ads for clients. The list includes tips for optimizing image/text positioning, language, tone, colour choice and frequency.
    • note – you don’t need to use all 27 tactics in each ad, but you can use this as a jumping off point to help with ideas.
  • One Question – I had a question from a rep this week that was similar to this: “When a user clicks on my client’s display ad, how can I see what they do on the client’s website?” This is a great question. Impressions and clicks are one thing, but how are users actually behaving on the website after the click?
    • The Short Answer – ask your client to add your DC’s email to their Analytics. Your DC can pull a report and find valuable information on how users are interacting with the website.
    • The Long Answer – This is by definition very long. If you would like to know the specifics, send me an email!
