For the last 20 years, Pantone has released ‘The Colour of the Year. This year’s colour is PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral.

Many industries keep a close eye on ‘The Colour of the Year’ as it influences consumer goods and visual communication trends and, therefore, purchasing decisions across various sectors. Whether we realize it or not, we encounter it almost every day in areas such as industrial design, interior design, fashion design, textile design and graphic design to name a few.

This joyful coral colour has been living and breathing not just on the reefs but on many digital spaces, too. Here are some beautiful examples to inspire your next project.

Pantone released a statement with this excerpt:

“Lying at the center of our naturally vivid and chromatic ecosystem, PANTONE Living Coral is evocative of how coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of color.”

Kudos to Pantone for creating environmental awareness with their platform. Coral reefs are declining around the planet, causing great concern to our ecosystem. Let’s not just be aware. Let’s do our best to take action and contribute to be environmentally friendly.

Now that you’ve filled your inspiration bucket, how will you incorporate the colour into your projects?
