Here at Glacier Media, our internal agency ecosystem is made up of 150+ folks.

It’s time for another edition of Team GMD Q&A. It’s kind of like Vogue’s 73 Questions. Instead, it’s in blog form and there are less than 10 questions – because you’re busy and we respect your time.

This week on Meet the Team GMD, we are chatting with Gerald Africa, Visual Designer and one of our newest additions to the GMD design team.

Originally from the Philippines, Gerald moved to Canada when he was 12 years old and later graduated from BCIT with a degree in New Media Design and Web Development. When it comes to design, there’s not much he can’t do. Since graduating seven years ago, Gerald has designed websites, logos, landing pages, banners, as well as worked on multiple video projects. But I bet you didn’t know he’s also a rap music producer on the side… Read on to learn more about Gerald!

In a short paragraph, tell us a little bit about your role at GMD. What do you do on a daily basis:

I do a little bit of everything. I design graphics for social media, make motion graphic video ads, design landing pages or design/develop client websites.

Personal kryptonite:

Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie Ice Cream.

Any hidden talents?

I have a good ear for sound/music and a good eye for design.

Hobbies?

I like to code, make music, work out and play video games.

A cause/causes you are passionate about:

Sustainable Technology.

Do you have a Side-hustle? Do tell!

Whose work has inspired you the most (any creative figure)?

Max Novak, he’s a great 3D motion artist and video editor on Youtube.

One thing school taught you and one thing it didn’t:

School taught me how to make friends and connections. It didn’t teach me how to do finance and real estate.

What are you currently listening to?

Currently listening to Juice WRLD and various underground artists on SoundCloud.

Juice WRLD

If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day and why?

I’d like to be the guy who developed bitcoin, cause no one really knows who actually created it and I’m curious how they developed the first bitcoin.

What gets you out of bed in the morning (other than your alarm)?

My responsibilities.
