You’ve been told that your business needs “digital marketing” services such as organic social media, Google ads, search engine optimization, etc. But what the heck are those things, and why do you need them??

Introducing our latest blog: Digital Marketing: Explain Like I’m 5 (ELI5).

We like to keep things simple; following are the simplified explanations of digital marketing.

So, what are Google Search Ads, Google PPC and Google SEM?

All of it is paid search results in Google. These ads are like special messages that show up when you search for something on Google. They are like the helpful signs you see when you’re looking for a toy in a big store. Businesses pay Google to show these ads, and they try to make them interesting and useful for people. When you click on an ad, it takes you to a website where you can learn more about what you searched for or maybe buy something you like.

So, it’s like a way for companies to get your attention when they’re looking for your product or service. Kind of like Geoffrey the Giraffe at Toys R Us!

What about Search Engine Optimization? Is it similar to Google Search Ads?

Well, yes and no. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is like a magic trick that helps websites become more popular and show up higher when you search for something on the internet. This happens naturally, and you don’t need to pay anyone.

It’s like giving your internet browser clues to help find your website when someone searches for your service. Just like when you play “hide and seek” and you give hints to your friends to help them find you, SEO gives hints to your search browser to help it find your website! SEO uses the right words, pictures, and other special tricks so that search engines like Google can find them easily.

So, SEO helps websites be more visible and get more visitors.

Okay, what is Organic Social Media VS Paid Social Media?

Organic social media is like playing with your friends in the park.

You can share pictures, videos, and thoughts with other people, and they can see and interact with them for free. It’s like when you draw a picture and show it to your friends. It’s all about being yourself and connecting with others naturally.

Paid social media is a little different. Sometimes, companies or people pay money to show their pictures, videos, or messages to more people. It’s like when you have a special toy that you really want your friends to see, so you give them some candy or a small toy to get their attention. The business or person wants more people to see what they have to say, so they pay to make it happen.

Both organic and paid social media can be fun and exciting, but it all depends on what your goals are.

What does “Video Programmatic” mean?

Video programmatic ads are like short videos that appear while you’re watching another video online. They are like little commercials that show up on the screen. Programmatic means that they are automatically chosen and shown to you based on things like what you like to watch or what you might be interested in. It’s like when you’re playing with your toys and suddenly a new one appears that you might really like. Companies use these ads to show you cool things or tell you about their products.

And Content Marketing, is that important?

Content marketing is like telling a really interesting story or sharing helpful information to make people happy and interested in you. It’s when companies or people create videos, articles, or pictures that teach you something or make you laugh. They do this to build a good relationship with you and show you that they know a lot about a certain topic. You know, how your teacher tells you a fun story to help you understand something better.

So, content marketing is all about sharing cool stuff to make people like and trust you, and what you have to offer.

At the end of the day, if you’re reading this blog, you’re probably not 5 years old…

And for us, we hardly scratched the surface of what these things can actually accomplish for your business. We understand that in an industry so technologically complex, it can be easy to gloss over things that seem too difficult to understand. We hope this was a fun and interesting way to learn about what certain services are and why you might use them to help grow your business.
