It’s time for another edition of Team GMD Q&A! It’s kind of like Vogue’s 73 Questions. Instead, it’s in blog form and there are less than 10 questions – because you’re busy and we respect your time.

The rainy season has started and it’s well and truly feeling a Fall at Glacier Media Digital. Today we are learning about Team GMD’s Elizabeth The.

Elizabeth is one of those rare people who were actually born and raised here in Vancouver. A true writer at heart, Elizabeth fell in love with literature early on in life, reading her first book at the age of 3 and starting a journal in Grade K. She won a poetry competition in Grade 1 which confirmed her aspiration to become a writer. She attended Simon Fraser University and double majored in Communications and English Literature, then worked at a content marketing agency and a digital software company before joining us at Glacier Media. Elizabeth recently self-published her first book, Beyond Black and White, a collection of poetry and short essays around the idea of seeing all of the colours on the spectrum of life’s experiences. Read on to find out more about Elizabeth!

In a short paragraph, tell us a little bit about your role at GMD:
I’m the Branded Content Manager for Vancouver Is Awesome. On a daily basis, I strategize and execute sponsored campaigns for clients through custom content in the form of articles, social media posts, email marketing in VIA’s newsletters, and more. I enjoy having the opportunity to work with and write for clients in a variety of industries and specializations — from B.C. tourism to community leadership programs and more!

Hidden talent:
My recall of pop songs throughout the decades. Everyone says I would kill it on “Beat Shazam” and “Don’t Forget The Lyrics”.

Personal kryptonite:
DOGS! I’ve been known to crash the occasional corgi beach party (even though I don’t have one myself…)

What are you doing when you’re not working?
Checking out new restaurants and shops in the city, travelling to new cities, listening to music and going to concerts, trying new dance styles, hiking to peaks with spectacular views, and playing with my roommate’s cat.

If you could pick up a new skill in an instant what would it be?
To easily pick up new languages, or to play the harp!

What is the last thing you read that inspired you?
“Between Two Kingdoms” by Suleika Jaouad for her honest account of her fight against leukemia and her journey of self-discovery when it came time to re-enter the world and “begin again”.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
My good friend Tania once told me to “Trust the timing of your life”, which has always been spot on in my experiences. It’s a good reminder to keep leaning into patience and hope in uncertain times.

What’s your favourite Vancouver brunch spot?
Catch 122 for the best eggs benedict!

What is your favourite place to visit?
New York City and London. I’m a big city girl through and through!
