Here at Glacier Media, our internal agency ecosystem is made up of 150+ folks.
It’s time for another edition of Team GMD Q&A! It’s kind of like Vogue’s 73 Questions. Instead, it’s in blog form and there are less than 10 questions – because you’re busy and we respect your time.
This week on Team GMD we are featuring Farah Tarannum, our Digital Product Co-ordinator. Farah is new to the GMD team and brings a keen eye for content and some killer podcast recommendations. Read on to learn more about Farah!
In a short paragraph, tell us a little bit about your role at Glacier Media. What do you do on a daily basis?
I manage the self-serve ad placement platform for the print and online classifieds sections of the Glacier Media publications across BC and SK. I also work with the GuidedBy team where I manage the content entry for business profiles, perform content QA for the GuidedBy Spotlight program hubs, and write the associated blog posts for the hubs.
Hidden talent:
Awkwardness. If there is potential for awkwardness in any given situation, I can and will fulfil that potential – despite my best efforts not to.
Personal kryptonite:
Cats and Cake.
What are you currently listening to?
“Modern Love”, a podcast produced by NYT and WBUR, and Tool’s “Fear Inoculum”.
What keeps you motivated?
Doing a good job. Whatever I’m doing, I like knowing that I’m putting in my best possible effort at the time.
Office habit:
I always have earbuds in while working. Sometimes they’re playing something, sometimes not. The feeling of being in my own bubble when I have headphones/earbuds on helps me concentrate.
Two truths one lie:
- I read between 10 to 20 books a year.
- I finally finished War and Peace.
- My landlord is a snooty, handsome cat named Mister Poncho.
How do you stay on track while working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic?
I make sure to stick to my daily work schedule even when I’m working from home. Not going to lie, Poncho sauntering in demanding attention does lead to the occasional unscheduled who’s-a-fancy-kitty break.
How do you keep your work organized?
I plan my day 15 minutes prior to starting my workday, leaving room for some unplanned client calls, etc. If something derails the schedule, I take a step back to reassess and reprioritize to ensure I’m hitting all my goals for the day.
What’s your side-hustle?
- I work freelance as a writer and illustrator.
Favourite quote:
- “People tend to find books when they are ready for them.” – Neil Gaiman
