Here at Glacier Media, our internal agency ecosystem is made up of 150+ folks.

Another week, another Team GMD Q&A. It’s kind of like Vogue’s 73 Questions. Instead, it’s in blog form and there are less than 10 questions – because you’re busy and we respect your time.

This week on Team GMD, we are featuring Seonah Han, our Web Developer/ Designer. Seonah is a rare unicorn – with full-stack developing skills and artistic talents, she is irreplaceable on our team. As badass as she is in the office, she also kicks butts outside of work. From volunteering as an instructor to eating salad without any dressing, Seonah can do it all. Read on to learn more about her.

Hidden talent: Eating salad without any dressing

Personal kryptonite: Japanese cream puff

Two truths one lie:

  1. I grew up in North Korea
  2. Google Earth Engine has my javascript code for the prediction of forest images.
  3.  I came to Canada when I was 16 by myself.

Morning rituals: Lemon ginger tea

Favourite rapper: Metro boomin

What’s your DJ/ Rap name: A$SAP Ricebean

What keeps you motivated: Hm…sunny weather counts?

Office habit: I put earplugs when I do programming, not because of the noise but because it helps me focus. So please don’t mind me 🙂

Things you are passionate about:

Education. I’ve been volunteering as an instructor for almost 6 years and I’ve taught many people from different backgrounds how to code. Three weeks ago, I was running a workshop for a basic programming class. A grandmother came with her grandson to the class to learn coding together. The grandma asked me so many good questions, and it surprised and helped the class. It’s always inspiring to meet people who are eager to learn new things and it really makes me believe that everyone should have an access to education and be able to explore and find out about things that they never knew they were good at 🙂

What/who inspires you and why: Anyone who gets out of their comfort zone and tries new things inspires me.

What is one of your greatest achievements: The right side of my airpod has been missing for a week, I found it last night, yay!

Whose work has inspired you the most (any creative figure): Chris Gannon, the interaction designer. https://gannon.tv/

You do design as well as developing, which one do you like more?

I like both. For me, I think they are tightly intertwined. I enjoy designing, and implementing my design by code is even more fun as I often can put the interactive layer to my design.

Favourite project you’ve worked on (feel free to plug your own portfolio):

The favorite project that I’ve worked on is also the longest project that I’ve worked on, which is Cattivo Ragazzo. As I was spending more and more time on it, I got attached to it.

Favourite city you’ve been to & why: Lahore, Pakistan.

Ideal getaway: my bed

One thing school taught you and one thing it didn’t:

School taught me many things indeed.. linear optimization, functional programming, and application of quantum physics for cybersecurity etc. but the school didn’t teach me that I will never use those in my life.

Favourite quote: “You are what you do every day.”
