Here at Glacier Media, our internal agency ecosystem is made up of 150+ folks.

Another week, another Team GMD Q&A. It’s kind of like Vogue’s 73 Questions. Instead, it’s in blog form and there are less than 10 questions – because you’re busy and we respect your time.

This week on Team GMD, we have our Digital Coordinator of the North Shore News – Michael Mordak. Michael helps manage projects and maintain communication between the production team and the sales team. When Michael is not chasing deadlines, you can find him cycling and drinking beer (They don’t happen simultaneously. Don’t drink and drive/ ride kids.) He bleeds peanut butter and advocates for wildlife protection. Read on to learn more about him.

Hidden talent: I’m a singer

Personal kryptonite: Peanut Butter

Two truths one lie:

  • I’m a father
  • I biked around Lake Ontario
  • When doctors take blood samples from me the jars have to include the warning: contains traces of peanuts.

What do you do when you’re not working: Any one of the following:

  • Cycling
  • Board game nights
  • Hockey games
  • Playing guitar
  • Anything my friends are doing because isolation is the devil

Office habit: I’ve been known to keep a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter next to me at all times. For emergencies. Peanut Butter emergencies

Causes you are passionate about: I support Mother Nature. While I was still living in Ontario, I travelled to Vancouver with my friend’s company to shoot a short video documentary about the efforts being done to help restore the Southern Resident Killer Whale population (only 74 of these orcas remain). This is developing into a full-length documentary supported by the David Suzuki Foundation among others, called Coextinction. *plug to check it out!*

Favourite part of your job: The people that make it all worthwhile.

Do the DCs help each other? On what: Maintaining our sanity

Favourite Meal: Grilled cheese and Alphaghetti. This was a classic Mordak summer meal, and it just reminds me of being a kid.

Favourite Movie: Kung Fu Panda

Favourite quote: “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called, The Present” – Oogway, Kung Fu Panda

Favourite kind of beer (year round): I miss Ontario craft beer. It’s just not the same out here. My favourite is a Russian Imperial Stout brewed by Nickel Brook Brewing in Burlington, ON.
